Was ist ein MDE-Gerät?
MDE-Geräte (Abkürzung für: Mobile Datenerfassungsgeräte) sind handliche, robuste Computer, mit denen Sie Daten direkt vor Ort erfassen, verarbeiten und an ein zentrales System übermitteln können. Sie kombinieren üblicherweise Funktionen von Scannern, Displays und mobilen Rechnern. So lassen sich verschiedene Codes lesen (etwa Barcodes, QR-Codes oder RFID-Tags) und in Echtzeit an beispielsweise ein Warenwirtschafts- oder ERP-System übertragen.

Welches Betriebssystem ist das passende für mich?

Wie robust sind MDE-Geräte?
Das ist abhängig davon, welches Modell Sie wählen. Die meisten Geräte sind allerdings für den industriellen Dauereinsatz entwickelt und daher sehr widerstandsfähig und robust.
Achten Sie beim Kauf trotzdem auf die unterschiedlich angegebenen Schutzklassen – vor allem, wenn Sie besonders starke Produkte suchen. IP65 und IP67 beispielsweise schützen vor Staub und Wasser und überstehen Stürze aus etwa 1,5 Metern Höhe. Auch extreme Temperaturen (und Schwankungen) sowie Vibrationen stellen kein Problem dar. Perfekt also in besonders rauen Arbeitsumgebungen.
Was sind die Unterschiede zwischen MDE-Geräten und Scannern?
Ein Scanner liest lediglich Barcodes oder QR-Codes aus und überträgt diese an ein anderes Gerät – beispielsweise einen PC oder eine Kasse.
Ein Mobiles Datenerfassungsgerät hingegen ist ein eigenständiger mobiler Computer mit integriertem Scanner. Die Daten in Form diverser Codes werden nicht nur erfasst, sondern auch direkt verarbeitet, an Systeme übermittelt und gespeichert.
